Cima Di Zita Sud - The Final Descent

Our journey on the Alta Via 1 was nearing its end, and what a finale it presented us at Cima Di Zita Sud. This day, the penultimate of our trek, gifted us with a breathtaking view – a fitting reward for our perseverance. The trail wound its way down the valley on the right, making a dramatic descent as if to leap off the cliff.

From the very start, our guidebook had heralded this spot as offering the best view of the Dolomites, and standing there, we unanimously agreed. The panorama was a masterpiece of nature, a scene so majestic it felt almost surreal.

As we savored our last grappa, there was a mix of emotions. The sight of more polenta brought a resigned groan, but it was the wave of sadness that took us by surprise. With this awe-inspiring view before us, reality hit – we were close to rejoining the hustle of civilization and our extraordinary journey was drawing to a close.
